Submitting Queries
Clinical coders should first seek assistance from their peers or local coding group to resolve classification issues. If the classification issue can not be resolved in the first instance, the query should be sent to the relevant state or territory Coding Advisory Committee. If the query is still unresolved, a representative from the state/territory Coding Advisory Committee will forward the query to the NCCH for advice. NCCH will formulate a response which will be ratified by the National Coding Standards Advisory Committee (CSAC) and published as a 10-AM Commandment in Coding Matters. Changes to the classification informed by the 10-AM Commandments will be incorporated into a future edition of ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
